Malawi waves 53 African flags at World Government Summit

Tionge Mtambo, a head teacher at Tondola Primary School in Chitipa, represented Africa at this year’s World Governments Summit held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The two-day summit drew the attendance of the world’s top educators and was aimed at bringing top educators to share stories on the transformative impact the teachers have on the lives of young people worldwide.

Speaking to MBC Digital in a telephone interview from Dubai, Mtambo described the summit as not only a personal milestone but also a moment of pride for Malawi.

She said the platform allowed her to share Malawi’s education successes and challenges on a global stage.

She added that the valuable connections she made in Dubai will greatly boost her mission to support vulnerable children and advocate for girls’ education.

Tionge as one of the top 10 finalists in the competition was given the Global Teacher Prize ambassadorship role.
