Shadrick Msiska, Director of Public Works for Likoma District Council has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the K104 million Teachers Development Centre (TDC) on Chizumulu Island, which is being funded by the Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD).
Msiska made the remarks on Monday on Chizumulu Island during a project monitoring visit. The visit included inspection of projects such as Same Primary School Library, Mocho F.P School blocks construction, Chiteko Nursery School and Same TDC.
“The work is perfectively being done according to the required standard, the project is so far at roofing level and its duration is 90 days, it started on June 2, 2024, but you can see the progress, it is beyond our expectation,” he said.
Ernest Gulu, Vice Council Chair for Likoma, echoed Msiska’s sentiments, noting the council’s efforts to balance development projects between Chizumulu and Likoma Islands.
He commended the contractor for the quality and speed of the project, pointing out that it is the first of its kind and first for a contractor to stick to the agreed time frame.
