Government will support Coca-cola corporation as they intend to expand their investments in the country, President Chakwera has confirmed.
He made the remarks in Dallas, Texas, USA, where he met a Coca-cola corporation delegation on the sidelines of the US-Africa Business Summit.
Simplex Chithyola-Banda, who is Malawi’s Finance Minister, says the intention of supporting Malawi’s developmental agenda through bolstered manufacturing is a welcomed idea.
“The expansion of activities will bring more jobs to Malawi and raw materials are locally sourced and that means a lot to our people who will benefit. We appreciate that and we continue engaging with them to ensure they maximise their plans,” he said.
Karyn Harrington, Coca-Cola’s Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications, commended the government for striving to assist investors to flourish in Malawi.
The company has been operational for over 90 years and has been operating in Malawi for 56 years, with over 500 workers.
