Govt hails ECG for championing tourism

Government has commended the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) – The Jesus Nation Church for its contribution to tourism, as thousands of international visitors have begun arriving in the country to attend this year’s crossover prayers, dubbed The Night of Goshen, which will take place in Lilongwe.

Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, made the remarks at Kamuzu International Airport in the Capital City when she welcomed visitors from around the world for the crossover prayers.

Kamtukule emphasised that the socio-economic impact of tourism is enormous to the country’s financial growth.

Leader of the ECG Church, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, said that the Night of Goshen Crossover Night will be one of Malawi’s most attended religious event as they expect to draw over 25,000 participants from across the globe.

“Local businesses are set to thrive as international attendees seek accommodation, transport and recreational experiences,” Bushiri said.

One of the visitors, Selina Schwager from Switzerland, said she was excited to be in Malawi for the first time specifically for prayers.

The crossover will take place on the 31st of December 2024 to 1st January 2025 at at Kanengo in Lilongwe.
