FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have announced that their coach, Kalisto Pasuwa, will leave the club on 31st December 2024, following the expiry of his contract.
The announcement was made on the club’s website, where Bullets described Pasuwa as one of the best coaches in the team’s history.
However, the club has not revealed who will succeed him.
Nonetheless, Pasuwa’s former assistant, Peter Mponda, who recently helped Silver Strikers win the TNM Super League for the first time in 11 years, has been closely linked to Bullets. Neither party, however, has confirmed or denied this speculation.
Kamuzu Barracks’ coach, Charles Kamanga, praised Pasuwa, saying he leaves behind a “top legacy” that will be difficult for his successor to match.
Sports analyst Dan Chemis remarked that the departure comes at the right time.
“A dancer should know when to leave the stage. He now has the opportunity to face new challenges, such as taking on the national team role or joining a club in Zimbabwe, reportedly run by wealthy individuals and recently promoted to the top flight,” Chemis said.
Pasuwa departs after six successful years at Bullets, during which he won five TNM Super League titles, five Charity Shield Cups, three Airtel Top 8 Cups, two FDH Bank Cups, and one Castel Challenge Cup title.
Although his next destination remains unclear, Pasuwa is likely to assume the role of Head Coach for the Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, having been appointed interim coach on 1st November.
Under his tenure, Malawi secured an impressive 3-1 victory over West African giants Burkina Faso and a 0-0 draw against Burundi in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
