ECDCs told to expose children to careers at an early age

Matron for Mzimba District Hospital, Etta Kadzakumanja, has called upon the country’s Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDCs) to ensure they organise learning visits for their learners, stressing they help pupils make informed career choices.

Kadzakumanja made the remarks on Monday when kindergarten children from St Charles and Clare private schools in Mzimba visited the hospital on an educational visit.

Kadzakumanja said children mainly learn through observations and learning visits provide them an opportunity to make future careers choices from an informed point of view.

Director for St Charles and Clare schools, Yacinta Phiri, said they organised the learning visit because as a school they believe in offering learners the unique chance to observe and learn first-hand.

One of the pupils, Abigail Mfune, said she aspires to become a doctor.
