Senior Chief Mkumpha III of Likoma has advised his subjects to use Digital Finance Services (DFS) thereby reducing some of the problems people have been encountering such as theft.
Mkumpha said this on Sunday during the 15-days Digital Finance Service campaign which is taking place in Likoma with the aim of sensitizing the general public on how they can prevent and deal with mobile and digital frauds.
He said people need to be advanced by using the digital finance services saying it will also help them to refrain from carrying bulks of money when going to buy items from the mainland the situation which is not safe.
Yusuf Asima a businessman who is also a tourist guide commended government for the program saying it will help many people including business people in various ways such as buying, doing payments, saving money among others since it is convenient, safe and easier.
He said as a tourist guide, sometimes he ended up loosing money from the customers whenever they run out of cash saying they are forced to leave the Island earlier than planned due to the situation.
The Reserve Bank of Malawi recently launched a national awareness campaign on the benefit of using DFS in Kasungu District, the program which is being implemented by Ministry of Finance with funding from the African Development Bank.
