Dedza adds junior primary school

Government has launched Chikoma Junior Primary School in Dedza District in a bid to reduce the distance learners walk to access basic primary education.

Traditional Authority Chilikumwendo has since urged the community to avoid vandalising the infrastructure.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank the Member of Parliament (MP) for listening to our prayer to establish and construct a new school block which will cater for Standard 1 and 2, who were moving long distances of over 5 kilometres. This is a good development,’’ he said.

Dedza North West MP, Auzious Chidovu, said the school is worth K25 million, sourced from Constituency Development Funds.

“Now I am thinking of adding more blocks and teachers’ houses,’’ Chidovu said.

The development means Dedza North West has 12 schools with a population of primary school learners estimated at 12,000.
