The Malawi Sports Schools Association (MASSA) has called on stakeholders to support the Malawi Youth Games, citing the need for more resources to nurture young talent and produce athletes who can compete internationally.
MASSA President Braxton Malamula made the appeal during the Season Four finals at Mzuzu Stadium, highlighting the current reliance on government funding through the Malawi National Council of Sports, which provides K223 million for six sporting disciplines as insufficient.
The call comes as South East Education Division -SEED emerged champions in football, beating South West Education Division in the finals by a goal to nil.
In Netball Southwest Education Division- SWED edged North West Education Division- NWED 42-37 baskets in a thrilling encounter to claim season four championship.
There were also other exciting games that took place during the 2024 edition including athletics, para athletics, volleyball, basketball and chess.
Malawi National Council of Sports will use the tournament to identify best athletes in all the sporting disciplines that will represent Malawi at the forth-coming Regional Five Games in Windhoek Namibia.
