Civil Sporting suffered a setback in their 2024 TNM Super League first match, succumbing to Mzuzu City Hammers by a goal to nil.
Other Super League encounters on Sunday saw Karonga United securing victory over Baka City (1-0), Creck Sporting Club prevailing over Tigers (3-1) and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers settling for a 1-1 draw against Kamuzu Barracks.
Meanwhile, the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) says they will provide essential support to Civil Sporting Club.
Robert Kalindiza, spokesperson for OPC and serving as the Media and Marketing Manager for Civil, coveyed the pledge at Mzuzu Stadium following the match between Mzuzu City Hammers and Civil Sporting Club.
“If the team requires new players, we are prepared to allocate funds for the acquisition of any player they deem fit to strengthen the squad.
We are prepared to procure a new bus and any other necessities to restore Civil Sporting Club to its former prominence in Malawi football,” Kalindiza stated.
