Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda says the party is united and well-positioned to secure another mandate in the 2025 elections, owing it to the development progress under President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s leadership.
Speaking at a rally in Salima, Chimwendo Banda pointed advancements in agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment despite economic and natural challenges. He urged Malawians to continue supporting the MCP, emphasising the party’s focus on action rather than rhetoric.
Director of Youth in the MCP, Steven Malondera, disclosed that the youth can now access loans of up to K1 million without the need for collateral through the National Economic Empowerment Fund. He noted that this initiative is designed to make it easier for the youth to obtain loans, aiming to ensure that they become productive rather than being used to disrupt others’ political rights.
Earlier, Chimwendo Banda, who also serves as Minister of Local Government visited a government-constructed house for Senior Chief Kalonga, where he expressed government’s commitment to improving the welfare of chiefs.
Some notable officials at the rally included Jessie Kabwila, Director of Communication, Deputy Director of Campaign Uladi Mussa, and Salima Central Member of Parliament Gerald Kapiseni.
