Bus company’s innovation excites African media in China

African journalists, who recently visited The People’s Republic of China on an education tour, were left thrilled by some of the innovative products introduced by Yutong Manufacturing Bus Company and how it is carrying out its industrial activities in that country.

Of particular interest were the eco-friendly buses, battery-charging buses as well as electric vehicles it has introduced on the market and the Africa entourage was taken round to appreciate the vehicles at the company’s premises in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.

Made up of about 20 African media experts from 11 mainstream media organizations, sponsored by the CGNT Swahili of the China Media Group (CMG), the team of journalists was amazed upon learning that the company’s production line processes close to 500 units per day.

They were also to learn that after more than 30 years of development, the manufacturer has sold more than 200,000 new energy vehicles.

Peng Xu, International Business Department Vice President at Zhengzhou Yutong Group, formed part of the management team that took the journalists around the factory.

He emphasized their commitment to environmental protection, as demonstrated by the development of the new energy vehicles.

As they say, the taste of the pudding is in the eating; the visiting African media practitioners therefore appreciated Xu’s gesture when he invited them to go for a road-test on one of the newly-built-but-remotely-controlled energy vehicles.

Yutong has exported countless number of buses and trucks to over 40 countries across the globe in all the major regions of Americas, Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

Should we expect to see the company setting up shop in Malawi anytime soon? Only time will tell.

During the China trip, which ran from August 27 to September 8, 2024, the journalists also visited several historical and commercial sites in that country.
