NPC re-emphasises youth inclusion for MW2063 realisation

National Planning Commission (NPC) says youth involvement is crucial for the successful implementation of Malawi’s 2063.

NPC outgoing Director General, Thomas Munthali, said by actively participating in the implementation process, young people can provide valuable insights and ensure that their needs and concerns are addressed.

Munthali made these remarks in Mponela, Dowa during the orientation session for the new members of the MW2063 Youth Core Advisory Panel.

He said the successful implementation of the Malawi 2063 hinges on the active participation and engagement of young people, who are the driving force behind the country’s development.

Patience Khembo, a departing member of the Youth Core Advisory Panel said the previous panel provided guidance to the NPC on the youth’s vision for the Malawi 2063.

For instance, Khembo said the panel asked for more inclusion and more allocations from the budget to the youth sector as well as a platform for grants to be allocated to young people so that they can advance the social enterprises.

Deputy Director in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Deus Lupenga, said the ministry is working with District councils, as well as the National Youth Council of Malawi to ensure that there is wider awareness of the objectives of MW 2063 objectives.

NPC, in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Malawi, organised the orientation session for the new members of the MW2063 Youth Core Advisory Panel.
