All is set for the 5th edition of the Blantyre 42.195 km race, formerly Blantyre marathon, slated for Sunday, July 30 2023.
Malawi National Council of Sports Public Relations Officer, Edgar Mtulumbwa, says they are done with preparations and the response from the athletes has been massive.
He further confirmed that Mphatso Nadolo, who won last year but was disqualified, is back alongside Nalicy chirwa and Austin Sukali who emerged as champions last year in women and men category respectively.
The winners of the race will walk away with K1.5million in both men and women category respectively.
Second and third placed will pocket K1 million and K500,000, respectively. There will be consolation prizes for position 4 up to 10.
The proceeds to be realized from the race will be used to support Cyclone Freddy victims.
Malawi Broadcasting Corporation will be broadcast live the race on its platform MBC 2 On the Go.
