President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has described the African Development Bank as a strong partner in the development of the country and Africa.
Speaking in a televised speech during the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the African Development Bank in Lilongwe, Dr Chakwera said the African Development Bank remains a pillar in the economic transformation of the country.
Minister of Finance Chithyola Banda said the government of Malawi will continue to make sure that resources provided by the African Development Bank are put to good use.
He said Malawi has benefitted a lot from the financial support that AFDB renders to Malawi in various sectors of the economy.
He cited the construction of various roads in Malawi, the Nkhata-bay water and sanitation project and the transport sector including the Nacala Corridor which he said has the potential to transform the country.
African Development Bank Country Manager, Macmillan Anyawu pledged to continue helping Malawi in various areas of the economy.
According to Anyawu, the AFDB has so far provided over 125 projects to Malawi which has improved the lives of Malawians.
