German development agency GIZ, with support from the German Embassy and in partnership with Sigelege Beach Resort and Conferencing in Salima, has successfully rehabilitated Salima 7 Senga Hills.
The initiative aims not just to welcome tourists but to enhance rural incomes and promote sustainable tourism.
This is part of the More Income and Employment in Rural Areas (MIERA) project and aims to transform the 7 Senga hills into a vibrant tourism hub.
During the official unveiling of the informational materials and signage installed at the 7 Senga Hills, Hilda Limbani, GIZ’s Tourism Advisor, highlighted the project’s potential to drive economic growth in the local community and boost national tourism hence contributing to the general outcome of the national ATM goals.
General Manager for Segelege Beach Resort and conferencing, Farai Marara, added that the rehabilitation project has introduced several new features designed to enhance visitor experience.
Among these is a 5-kilometre hiking trail that connects the seven hills, camping shelters, designated pick points and comprehensive signage marking distinct features and viewpoints.
