Zomba ready for e-payment system

Zomba District Council has announced its readiness to roll out an e-payment system for the Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme (CSE-PWP) in the upcoming cycle.

Chimwemwe Chimbaza, CSE-PWP Desk Officer for Zomba, said that the new system will improve efficiency and reduce risks associated with cash payments.

Since the programme’s inception, wages have been paid in cash, posing a high risk.

Zomba is one of the districts implementing CSE-PWP, with around 19,632 households participating.

A total of K942,336,000 will be disbursed to families involved in the programme.

The council is set to begin wage payments for the last cycle next week.
