Women urged to collaborate for financial independence

Women in the country have been encouraged to work together as a strategy for growing their businesses and achieving economic independence.

Tiyamike Chifisi, the chairperson of Women of Substance, a 10-member group based in Bvumbwe, Thyolo, said the power of teamwork is key to advancing shared goals.

The women have embarked on poultry farming and expect to realise more profits after sales.

“We would not have managed to raise these chicks without proper coordination and teamwork among ourselves,” explained Chifisi.

Established two years ago, the Women of Substance group consists mostly of widows and was initially funded by the Wester Kosamu family of Bvumbwe.
