Use home games wisely, analysts tip Songwe Border

Sports analysts have tipped Songwe Border United to utilise home games by collecting maximum points to ensure they survive relegation from the 2025 TNM Super League.

One of them, Kim Kamau, said the league rookies should consider buying experienced players once the transfer window has been opened.

This comes as Songwe’s management has appointed Christopher Nyambose as their head coach, demoting Enoch Mhone as the assistant.

“Several shortcomings were identified, and potential solutions were proposed. Among these was the restructuring of the technical panel,” read part of a statement that was released by the team.

Another analyst, Henry Gome, commended them, citing that such changes in the early weeks of the season are necessary in overcoming challenges as the league progresses.

“We should expect changes in how the team will be playing,” Gome said.

Since the start of the league, Songwe Border has lost all four of their games, including a 7-0 defeat to FC Nyasa Big Bullets on 20 April.

In all these games, Songwe has managed a single goal, as they lost 2-1 to Ekhaya on 26 April, as Dickson Mwangonde scored the lone goal.

Earlier, Mhone mentioned that the team has been struggling with getting favourable results because the squad mainly consists of youthful and naive players who are still learning.

In the league, Songwe Border is 16th with no points, while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are o leading the pack with 9 points.

Nyambose’s first assignment shall be against Mzuzu City Hammers on 11 May and elsewhere on the same day Chitipa United shall host Civil Service United.

On 10 May, Moyale Barracks will play against Blue Eagles. Karonga United have been scheduled to battle against Mighty Tigers.
