UK introduces new laws to cut migration, tackle care worker visa abuse

The UK Government has implemented a ban on health and care workers bringing their dependents with them.

In a press statement, the UK Home Secretary stated that this measure is part of a plan to reduce migration.

“The year ending September 23 saw overseas care workers bringing approximately 120,000 dependents to the UK,” the statement reads.

On the UK Government’s website (gov.uk), Home Secretary James Cleverly is quoted as saying, “Care workers make an incredible contribution to our society, providing support for our loved ones when they need it most. However, we cannot allow clear abuses and manipulation of our immigration system, as well as unsustainable migration numbers, to go unchecked.”
