Director of Health and Social Services for Rumphi, Dr Arnold Jumbe, says the integration of health services in some facilities in the district will improve healthcare provision and life expectancy, as some ailments will be discovered and treated in time before they become serious.
In an interview on Saturday, he said one-stop services in selected facilities, namely Rumphi District Hospital, Mwazisi, Jalawe, and Mzokoto, will also save time and resources for clients and the hospital, as clients will now be able to get all the services they need in one visit.
He added that it will also encourage health-seeking behaviour since some problems will be discovered earlier and clients will be counseled on their conditions, leading to healthier people who can contribute to national development.
The Ministry of Health is piloting the integration of health services in Rumphi and Nkhotakota from 2024 to 2025.
The integration is expected to be scaled to other districts across the country after the evaluation of pilot integration performance.
