Pakistan Overseas Community (POC) team has lobbied Ethiopian Airlines to offer fair rates as it plans to resume flights between Africa and Pakistan.
President of POC, Chaudhry Karamat Ullah, made the appeal on Tuesday, 2 May 2023 after meeting officials from Ethiopian Airlines.
According to Ullah, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Inaugural direct flight from Ethiopia to Pakistan which is scheduled for 8 May 2023.
“The POC team requested and stressed that the airline introduces special fares on this newly introduced flight from Addis Ababa to Karachi. POC team further requested special cargo rates between Pakistan and the African continent,” said Ullah.
Ulla believes that direct flights to Pakistan will connect Africa and Asia to more trade opportunities of which Malawi will be a beneficiary.
In his response during the meeting, the Area Manager for Ethiopian Airlines Theodros Mahtemeselassie said that he will discuss this with the senior management of the airline and would advise in due course.
