The National Youth Council of Malawi NYCOM says the 600% increment in the council’s budgetary allocation for the 2024/2025 financial year will boost the council’s youth empowerment programmes in the country.
Speaking in Mzuzu during the commissioning of the 2024-2029 strategic plan consultative meeting, the council’s Executive Director, Rex Chapota said the K2.7 billion allocation will among other things be used to empower the youth in different economic activities.
Welcoming the development, chairperson for Mzuzu Youth Network, Salomy Kadazi, said she anticipates that part of the funds will be used to promote youth to entrepreneurship programmes to reduce unemployment among the youth across the country, which will eventually contribute to the attainment of the Malawi 2063 agenda.
The National Youth Council of Malawi is conducting the consultative 2024-2029 strategic plan development meetings in all the regions in the country.
