Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) says the ongoing maintenance works at the Nkula Hydro Electric Power (HEP) Station are going according to plan.
Speaking to MBC Digital, Public Relations Officer for EGENCO, Moses Gwaza, assured the public that the exercise will be completed within the scheduled timeframe as the company’s maintenance team are working around the clock.
The maintenance works have temporarily removed 135.1 megawatts from the national grid, a development that has led to prolonged blackouts in most parts of the country.
Gwaza however says the impact is being managed to minimise disruptions to the power supply.
EGENCO had announced well in advance that it would carry out scheduled maintenance at Nkula HEP over the Easter period.
