Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) says local manufacturers have fully embraced the use of tax stamps on their products, achieving a 100% compliance rate.
Confirming the development, MRA Deputy Commissioner for Domestic Taxes, Kondwani Sauti Phiri, said following inspections, the Authority found that most production companies that produce eligible drinks and goods have begun affixing the stamps.
Over 60 million stamps have been ordered by various companies.
The tax stamp system, which is part of the Kalondola programme, aims to account for all manufactured and imported products on the market as well as addressing issues of smuggling.
