The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services has issued a warning that northern parts of Nkhotakota and Nkhata Bay, the eastern parts of Rumphi, and Karonga districts are at risk of flash floods.

According to a press statement, these areas are forecast to experience heavy rainfall from April 19 to 21, 2024.

Just last month, Nkhotakota experienced flash floods that affected 14,176 people and killed six.

Simultaneously, about 911 households in the area of Paramount Chief Kyungu were affected due to over flooding of North Rukuru River in Karonga following heavy rains.
