MEC tells traditional leaders to woo people for voter registration

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has called upon traditional and community leaders to woo people to register in large numbers for the 16 September General Elections next year.

MEC Commissioner, Francis Kasaila, made the call Monday at Senior Chief Chikowi headquarters during an interface with community leaders on the second voter registration exercise, scheduled for this week.

Kasaila assured everyone that the registration will consider every eligible voter disregarding any type of disability or levels of literacy.

He urged Malawians to avoid believing in concocted lies on election processes.

Senior Chief Chikowi assured the commission that the message will be relayed and they should expect increased number of people registering in the voter registration exercise.

Phase one of the voter registration exercise ended on 3 November and the next phase begins on 9 November up to 22 November, 2024.
