Zomba DC urges popularisation of contingency plan

District Commissioner for Zomba, Reighngard Chavula, has appealed to the district’s disaster office to disseminate its contingency plan for proper coordination.

Chavula made the call Monday in Liwonde, Machinga District during a contingency plan review meeting where she stressed that the plan is a tool that guides during natural disasters.

Disaster Risk Management Officer for Zomba, Violet Jimu, said her office has already started engaging stakeholders and community members, adding that awareness campaigns would be conducted so that the plan is well understood by members of the community.

According to the seasonal forecast released by the Department of Meteorological Services, Malawi is expected to receive Normal to above normal rainfall.
