Leonard Mwalwanda has been elected MCP Deputy Regional Chairperson for North-North region following elections held in Karonga.
Mwalwanda secured 102 votes, defeating Abraham Mwakhwawa, who garnered 37 votes, and James Mwaisemba, who received 24 votes. Out of 166 votes cast, three were declared null and void.
Meanwhile, Mwalwanda has assured the party members in the region that he will work together with the regional committee to strengthen the party.
The party’s Second Deputy Secretary General, Uchizi Mkandawire, who previously held the position of North-North Deputy Regional Chairperson, extended his best wishes to Mwalwanda for a successful tenure.
