MCP drums up support for voter registration

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Regional Chairman for the Centre, Patrick Chilondola, has urged people in the region to participate in the voter registration exercise, which is set to begin on Monday, 21 October 2024.

Chilondola made the remarks at Dedza Boma while addressing MCP supporters. He emphasized that party supporters should register to ensure they exercise their right to vote.

Commenting on the development, political analyst, Wonderful Mkutche said that a successful election largely depends on voter turnout. He stressed that political parties play a crucial role in mobilising voters.

“Parties are platforms through which many people engage in politics. Eligible voters must be encouraged to register, as this is their chance to choose leaders of their choice. Parties should continuously encourage their followers to register. In a democracy, elections are essential for ensuring the sustainability of the democratic process,” he noted.
