Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Diaspora Network, South Africa Wing, has pledged to work with the Malawi Government in its Mega Farms Initiative and other development projects.
Director of MCP RSA Wing, Isaac Nkhata, made the remarks in Cape Town during a get-together for the network in South Africa.
Nkhata said MCP supporters, just like all Malawians in the diaspora, have a crucial role to play in the development of Malawi through various interventions taking advantage of their exposure abroad.
Treasurer General for MCP Wing in RSA, Phaskani Msiska, said already, the team is in the process of securing maize for Malawi as one way of supporting the already existing stock to deal with food scarcity caused by Cyclone Freddy.
Msiska said MCP supporters through the network are also planning to bring agricultural mechanisation tools such as tractors and shellers to support President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s Mega Farms Initiative.
He further said Malawians in the diaspora are sure that the mega-farms will make Malawi food secure.
