Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda has outlined the 2025/26 National Budget, prioritising healthcare, agriculture, tourism, mining, and infrastructure for economic transformation.
The budget includes the completion of Mponela Community Hospital under the government’s decentralisation efforts.
In agriculture, the Shire Valley Irrigation Project is 98 percent complete, while mega farms and locally manufactured farm equipment are being promoted.
The Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) has been allocated K161 billion.
In tourism, key projects include the construction of an eco-lodge at Liwonde, the Sports Centre in Mulanje, and international marketing campaigns.
The mining sector is also expanding with the operationalisation of the Malawi Mining Investment Company, structured gold markets, and five new mining cooperatives.
The budget further commits to continued investments in roads, energy, and public services to drive economic growth.
“This budget reflects our commitment to sustainable development, job creation, and economic resilience,” Chithyola Banda said.
