Deputy Minister of Education Nancy Chaola Mdooko is leading this year’s commemoration of International Day of Education which falls on 24th January every year.
The event is taking place at Mkwichi Secondary School in Lilongwe.
The day was set aside by the United Nations for countries to consolidate gains made in the implementation of education related Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).
This year’s International Day of Education is being celebrated under the theme “Learning for Lasting Peace”.
On 24 January 2019, The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24 January as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.
