LL Police impounds 55 motorcycles

Lilongwe Police Station has impounded 55 motorcycles for contravening road traffic rules and regulations.

This follows an increase in injuries resulting from accidents involving motorcycles despite efforts to provide civic education to motorcyclists on how to conduct themselves on the road.

Deputy publicist for Lilongwe Police Station, Khumbo Sanyiwa, says the station decided to enforce the rules by impounding motorcycles for non-compliance after noting that most motorcyclists were still going against the required road safety standards.

On average, Lilongwe Police registers 50 road accidents per month involving motorcycles.
