K900BN for agricultural mechanisation

Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale says the government has engaged an extra gear in mechanised agriculture, having set aside K900 billion for the cause.

Kawale has said this at Lirangwe in Blantyre where Moroccan-based OCP Foundation has donated agricultural equipment to women involved in the pigeon pea value chain.

Kawale remains optimistic that women, who are major players in the agriculture sector, would benefit immensely from the equipment.

The donation follows an on-going campaign launched by the African Union called Empowering Women in Agriculture.
