FDH Bank’s Public Relations Officer, Lorreine Chikhula has expressed optimism for a reduction in maternal deaths at Chikwawa District Hospital, following the bank’s K7 million donation to the Safe Motherhood project initiated by Nation Publications Limited.
Speaking during the donation handover, Chikhula said the contribution is aimed at equipping the hospital with essential medical tools to support pregnant women and ensure safe deliveries.
Nation Publications Limited’s Weekend Nation Editor, Steven Nhlane, said the donation will help combat maternal deaths in Chikwawa.
According to the National Statistics Office, around 400 out of every 100,000 women die during childbirth in Malawi.
