Minister of Trade Sosten Gwengwe has urged farmers and cooperatives to utilise and benefit from the Agricultural Commercialisation (AGCOM) Project 2, as it aims to transform smallholder agriculture from subsistence to commercial farming.
Gwengwe stressed the need for seriousness in increasing and improving value addition to their products for quality exports.
He was speaking in Blantyre when AGCOM interacted with aggregators, off-takers, anchor farmers, and various cooperatives to explain how they can benefit from the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Window 3 of the AGCOM 2 programme.
AGCOM National Programme Manager, Ted Nakhumwa, said AGCOM 2 is going to greatly assist local farmers, aggregaters to enhance both production and value addition of their raw materials.
