Green Energy conference underway

Different players in the green energy space have gathered in Lilongwe for a Green Energy Enabling Environment Conference to, among others, share best practices and foster collaborations in the field of green energy and sustainable development.

Private sector players are also exhibiting various green energy products and services, which they believe can contribute to the sustainable economic growth of the country.

Guests include Irish Ambassador to Malawi, Seamus O’Grady and Alfonso Chikuni, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Energy.

The conference has been staged under the Green Economic Transition Facility (GETF), which is offering business grants of up to US$300,000 and on-demand technical assistance of up to US$35,000 to each approved project.

This business support facility targets investors willing to invest and diversify their green business solutions through business models which will contribute to both saving of the environment and economic development of the country.

“We want to discuss challenges, opportunities and support the adoption of affordable, accessible and acceptable green energy solutions to the end users not only to mitigate environmental degradation but also foster economic growth,” says Tambulani Chunga, GETF Project Manager.
