Richard Chimwendo Banda, Minister of Local Government says Capital Hill is creating jobs through implementation of key development projects across the country.
The minister made the remarks in Mwanza District during a visit to a construction site for a new stadium.
Addressing workers after touring the site, Chimwendo Banda said he was delighted to note that the project has provided job opportunities to young men and women in the district.
“When the President speaks about creating 1 million jobs, this is what he means. Not all jobs created can be white collar jobs but there are also blue collar jobs that we have created,” said Chimwendo Banda.
The minister said more jobs will be created in Mwanza once government launches additional development projects.
Currently, the Mwanza Stadium project has employed 147 men and women.
