The first-ever two-day Malawi Investment Forum (MIF) is underway in Johannesburg South Africa.
The purpose of the forum is to contribute to Malawi’s structural transformation by facilitating collective engagement among stakeholders to channel investments into Malawi.
The forum will also provide a platform by bringing together the most influential stakeholders, financiers, Investors, government officials and business captains to provide information for decision-making regarding investing in Malawi.
According to Malawi High Commissioner in South Africa, Stella Ndau, the forum will assist to create awareness of investment opportunities as well as position Malawi as a preferred investment destination.
She said the forum will also empower Malawians in the diaspora to act as ambassadors for Malawi’s investment promotion.
The investment forum is being led by the Minister of Trade, Simplex Chithyola Banda. Also in attendance is Secretary to the President and Cabinet- SPC Colleen Zamba, Minister of Mining, Monica Chang’anamuno and Tourism Minister, Vera Kamtukule.
The activities include the conference which is the main activity as key influencers will meet and discuss topical issues, panel discussions that will allow investors and government officials to have an understanding of expectations from all stakeholders and exhibitions of various products from Malawi.
The two-day forum has brought together over 700 delegates from Malawi as well as potential investors from South Africa. It is being held under a theme: ‘A Prosperous Malawi through strategic investment partnership. – MBC Online Services, Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa.
