Go and vote in large numbers- MEC

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has urged voters in Rukulu, Chilanga and Kaporo wards to participate in large numbers in the upcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for 26 March.

MEC Commissioner, Caroline Mfune, made the call at Karonga Community Ground during a football bonanza that MEC organised to sensitise the constituents on the need to vote.

Mfune further reminded the voters that polling centres will open at 6 am and close at 4 pm.

During the bonanza, Chilumba Barracks FC defeated Karonga United FC  4-1 via post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

MEC is holding the election in the above-mentioned wards after the former councillors lost their seats following a court ruling.
