The Football Association of Malawi has named 27 players for the inaugural phase of the Luwinga Inclusive Academy, scheduled to commence operations in July.
Designed as a residential facility, the academy will accommodate under-14 football talent, providing both academic and football training.
Benjamin Kumwenda, FAM’s Technical Director, announced plans for another process in the coming weeks to establish a Girls’ team within the inclusive Academy.
“We intend to organise a preliminary gathering for the boys at the Technical Centre, allowing us to assess the facility’s suitability before transitioning to the full residential programme,” Kumwenda stated.
The selection process started over the weekend at Bingu National Stadium, drawing 81 young prospects from various regions of the country.
Among the participants were 40 players identified during the u-14 League Rough Diamonds finals, with the remaining talent scouted through grassroots football initiatives.
