The Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) is urging legislators, particularly those belonging to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), to be exemplary when it comes to respecting and upholding the rule of law in the country.
The statement comes in light of the confusion that has characterised the current sitting of the National Assembly over the issue of the Leader of the Opposition.
In a statement, EAM General Secretary Reverend Francis Mkandawire says while the party has a case, there is a need however, for the DPP MPs who are boycotting deliberations in solidarity with their suspended colleagues, to return to their senses and respect the rule of law under which Malawi as a country operates.
Mkandawire says the EAM believes that Malawi has pertinent issues requiring everyone’s attention and boycotting Parliament at this point is not helping Malawians.
