Malawi’s development partners have expressed satisfaction with the status of the social protection programmes they are funding in the country.
Programme Manager for Social Protection of the EU Delegation, Arnold Chikavanga, said this at Mulinde Catchment in the area of T/A Malili in Lilongwe.
The donors got to appreciate, first hand, the impact of the Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project as well as the Climate Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme.
Chikavanga applauded the government for the effective implementation of the programmes, which he said is making a positive impact on the targeted households by contributing to their sustainable economic development.
About 1.5 million people are benefiting from the Social Cash Transfer Programme in the country.
Statistics indicate that ultra poverty levels in the country are at 20 percent and the social cash transfer programme is reaching out to 10 percent.
