Chitipa South Member of Parliament, Werani Chilenga, has praised the government for its effective implementation of infrastructure development projects aimed at improving the lives of Malawians.
Chilenga said this in Lilongwe at Parliament Building during parliamentary deliberations on Tuesday.
He highlighted road construction as a key example of the administration’s efforts to deliver high-quality infrastructure that meets public needs.
“Even if the country had access to billions of Kwacha, without proper implementation, projects would still fail to serve their purpose,” Chilenga said.
The legislator further noted that in the past, some public infrastructure projects were poorly executed, resulting in substandard outcomes, ultimately leading to a waste of taxpayers’ money.
He added that many of these projects now require additional funding for reconstruction, a situation he described as avoidable with proper oversight.
However, Chilenga urged the government to sustain this momentum and ensure that all future projects uphold the highest standards to maximise the impact of public resources.
