Some citizens in Dedza Township have organised a candlelight memorial event for former Vice President, late Dr Saulos Chilima, which will be held on Sunday evening at Dedza Stadium.
Chairperson of the organising committee, John Ng’oma, says preparations for the event are now at an advanced stage.
Ng’oma mentioned that they initially planned to host the event at Dedza Town Hall but changed the venue due to a surge in interested participants.
Local businessman, Bryan Mowa, said the event will act as a unifying factor for citizens.
Candlelight events in honour of Dr Chilima and eight others who died at Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba commenced shortly after burial of the late Vice President and the eight others.
