COURT TO RULE ON SATTAR’S ACCOUNTS

The High Court in Lilongwe is expected to give its ruling on 12 October 2023 regarding the Anti Corruption Bureau’s application on whether to renew or not, restrictions as well as keep frozen Zunneth Sattar’s bank accounts.

According to one of the lawyers representing Sattar, Kalekeni Kaphale, they want to understand how the ACB has used its powers since the case started in 2021 before the renewal of the restrictions.

Kaphale said the ACB is not using its powers as expected adding that it has more powers but is not using them correctly to access information from banks.

He further said there are over 25 accounts which remain frozen at the moment.

ACB officials at the court declined to comment on the assertions by the defence lawyer after the case was adjourned.
