CHRR to boost voter turnout in 2025

The Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) is implementing initiatives to increase public participation in the 2025 General Elections, with financial support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

CHRR Project Officer, Maxwell Mvula, said this in Dedza, following a session aimed at orienting journalists on electoral laws, media ethics, and related topics.

“We have noticed a decline in voter turnout, from the 90 percent we saw in 1994. For the 2025 elections, we aim to raise awareness to encourage higher voter participation,” Mvula said.

Dedza District Election Officer, Austin Mapando, also called on journalists to uphold professionalism in their reporting.
