The much anticipated Mangochi-Makanjira Road will now be a reality following the signing of a $20 million financing project by the Saudi Fund for Development and the Malawi Government.
Speaking at the Saudi Fund for Development Headquarters in Riyadh President Chakwera said he was very excited that finally, the people of Makanjira will have a tarmac road after many failed promises.
“The people are very excited about this road project it will benefit thousands of people,” President Chakwera said.
On his part CEO of the Saudi Fund For Development, Sultan Almarshad, pledged to continue supporting Malawi in future infrastructure development projects.
“We are also in talking terms with the Malawi government in other future projects,” said Almarshad.
Construction of the 101-kilometer Mangochi-Makanjira Road is expected to ease mobility challenges people in the area have been experiencing.
