CDF can transform rural areas-Mwalwanda

Member of Parliament (MP) for Karonga Central Constituency Leonard Mwalwanda of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has said proper utilisation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) can bring about modern structures in rural areas.

Mwalwanda made the remarks at Mlare Primary School in Karonga —where a K15 million Headteacher’s house was constructed through CDF.

He said some constituencies are lagging in development due to poor leadership.

“Leaders need to make diligent use of the funds which we receive through CDF to improve the lives of people in our communities,” said Mwalwanda.

He also urged community members to be active in demanding development projects.

According to Mwalwanda, a good working relationship between MPs, Ward Councillors and the community is vital for the successful implementation of CDF projects.
